Komtireddy Venkat Reddy (born 23 May 1965) is an Indian politician.[1] He belongs to Indian National Congress. [2] He is an M.L.A from Nalgonda assembly constituency.

Early life

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy was born in Brahmana Vellemla village, Narketpally, Nalgonda district to a farmer, Papi Reddy. His brother is Bhongir Member of Parliament, Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy.

Career

Komtireddy won as a legislator from Nalgonda assembly constituency 3 times in 1999,2004 and 2009. He was a Minister for Information Technology in Y. S. Rajashekhara Reddy's government.[3] He served as minister for ports.

He resigned for Telangana cause in 2010 and again in October 2011 to his ministry and MLA. The Congress government which is believed to to be strongly against separate Telangana, didn't accept Venkat Reddy's resignation as an MLA, but accepted his resignation to minister-ship.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy launched his fast unto death for Telangana state in Nalgonda from November 1, which entered 8th day as of November 8th, 2011. But the Congress government, both center and state still seems to be not bothered about a decision on Telangana.

Personal life

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy is married and has one son Prateek Reddy,who died in road accident on 20th December 2011 on Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad.[4]
